Sports for Hope and Independence Bangladesh, in collaboration with its partner organization, Empowerment through Law of the Common People (ELCOP), marked a momentous occasion during the 22nd Human Rights Summer School at Proshika, Manikgonj. The special day celebrated none other than the King of Football, Pele, on his birthday. Distinguished figures including former chairman of the Human Rights Commission Prof Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Barrister T. K. Baul (Prosecutor Intl. Crime’s Tribunal and Director at ELCOP), Dr. Prof Masum Billah (Dean, Faculty of Law, Jogonnath University, and Director of Summer School), and SHI’s Founder and CEO, Ms. Sharmin F. Chowdhury, joined forces to raise awareness on “Sports Law and Sports Rights.” The collaborative efforts involve moot court trials, seminars, community law reform programs, and workshops, aiming to underscore that the practice of sport is an integral part of human rights. This initiative reflects a commitment to fostering awareness, advocacy, and reform at the intersection of sports and human rights.
