On October 10th, Sports for Hope and Independence Bangladesh (SHI) marked the successful completion of its Amputee Football Coaches Training and Football Camp with an exhilarating Exhibition Match featuring both men’s and women’s teams. The event showcased the remarkable progress of players and coaches alike, highlighting the growing potential of amputee football in Bangladesh.

Sports for Hope and Independence (SHI) Bangladesh proudly celebrates our nation’s first-ever participation in the Homeless World Cup, where our team made history with an extraordinary performance. Competing against some of the world’s best, our players secured 7 remarkable victories—defeating football giants Australia, Hungary, Italy, Argentina, Northern Ireland, Germany, and Brazil. After a thrilling tiebreaker against Namibia, we finished an impressive 6th in the Hero Generation Cup, marking a groundbreaking milestone for Bangladesh in this prestigious tournament.

First-Ever Women’s Amputee Football Match Held in Bangladesh
Sports for Hope and Independence (SHI) is delighted to announce the historic women’s exhibition football match, held in Lochna, Sreemangal, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This marks the first time a women’s amputee football match has been played in Bangladesh.
Women with amputations in their legs and arms participated in this five-a-side match, held on the final day of a 10-day camp designed to empower women with disabilities through sports. The match ended in an exciting finish, with the Purple Team winning against the Green Team in a tiebreaker.
Sumaiya Akter Simu, who was named Player of the Match, shared her inspiring journey: “When I had my amputation, people used to tease me, and I even thought of ending my life. But after coming here, I found friends and discovered my ability to play football.”

Homeless World Cup Conditioning Camp started in Sreemangal
Sports for Hope and Independence (SHI) has officially started its conditioning camp in Sreemangal for the upcoming Homeless World Cup in Seoul. For the first time, Bangladesh will be participating in this prestigious event, and 18 players, selected from different parts of the country, are preparing to represent their nation on the global stage.
This marks a significant milestone for Bangladesh, as the Homeless World Cup offers a unique platform for youth who have experienced homelessness to showcase their talents internationally. The event not only highlights their football skills but also raises awareness about homelessness, inspiring change and offering hope to those facing difficult life circumstances.

A heartwarming Ramadan food distribution took place in Sreemangal yesterday, where 90 girls and 10 boys received food boxes on behalf of their families.
